About

Astrid Bin is an interdisciplinary artist and designer.

Her artistic work examines the poetry in everyday things and the connections between people and their environments, and blurs, skips over and stamps on the line between art and design practice. She has exhibited all over the world.

She has carried out design research in academia (Georgia Tech, Berlin University of the Arts) and industry (Ableton, Bela). She is an expert in what it means to be creative with machines in an age of automation, and her outputs include hardware and software interfaces for musical exploration, digital musical instruments, and re-imagining the music listening experience. See her design work at design.astridbin.com.

She holds an undergrad degree in sculpture (OCAD U), a masters in public art (University of Ulster), and a PhD in Media and Arts Technology (Queen Mary University of London, read her thesis here). Currently she freelances internationally on creative and technical projects, and lives in Berlin.
